Life Means Life – All Lives Matter

The headline jumped off the page at me, “Life Means Life” I quickly scanned the article to find out if it could possibly be true that after 8 years as the Prime Minister of Canada, and erstwhile leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, Stephen Harper was finally intending to introduce legislation to protect all Canadian life, from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death.

However on closer inspection and to my immense disappointment the article instead referred to legislation to be reintroduced if the Conservative Party is re-elected, regarding extending prison sentences for murderers of Canadian citizens. Murders in particular which involve sexual assault, kidnapping, terrorism and also the intentional killing of police officers and corrections personnel. This is laudable. No-one should be able to murder Canadians without having to pay the price of loss of their liberty for the mandated period of time. Punishment should fit the crimes committed.

High Hopes…

Years ago when Stephen Harper was in the wings, as the Leader of the Opposition I had high hopes for him becoming Prime Minister of Canada. I envisioned that as a professed Christian man he would enshrine Christian values into any legislation that his new government would pass. Sadly I have been much disappointed.

To hope that the Conservatives would somehow take positive action to protect the most vulnerable members of society, such as the unborn, the infirm and the elderly was apparently to hope in vain.

Why, I ask myself is Mr. Harper so adamant to legislate to protect Canadians from convicted murderers repeating their heinous crimes but seemingly unwilling to protect our most vulnerable unprotected tiny unborn Canadians?

“A nation that kills its own children has no future.” Blessed John Paul ll

Do Our Legislators Lack Courage?

The future of Canada may very well be dependent on the generations being destroyed through uncontrolled and unfettered access to abortion on demand because Canadian legislators lack the courage and moral fortitude to protect those who cannot vote.

Previously I worked as an advocate for women dealing with unplanned pregnancies. Our organization’s role was to counsel the women and advocate for them. We supported them through their time of crisis and often they decided to keep their babies or adopt them out, rather than abort. We took the time to explain the mothers’ options and to offer support through a network of similar non-profit organizations that was there to help with all their emotional and financial needs; we continued to work with them long after the birth of their babies.

Our organizations are staffed with unpaid volunteers, unlike Planned Parenthood which has a well paid staff onsite, does not counsel clients regarding their options for adoptions and keeping their babies. Planned Parenthood also charges an average of $200.00 per aborted baby to medical research companies for the aborted babies’ body parts. So their incentive to help the mothers appears lacking.

“Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love but to use violence to get what they want.” Blessed Mother Teresa

Lifetime of Consequences

Part of my job at the crisis pregnancy centre was to help women who had previously had abortions who would come into talk, often crying and filled with remorse that they had made the decision in a moment of panic to have an abortion. No abortion ends in the abortion clinic there is a lifetime of consequences for the woman.

Using slogans such as, “A woman’s right to choose”, is foolhardy. Repeated enough times some people are swayed by it; but those individuals who care enough to investigate further realize that each abortion kills a baby, a human being. It is a contradiction in terms that in Canada once a baby is born the mother can be charged with murder if she tries to end the life of her child. Yet inside her womb, the day before her due date she can make the decision to have a doctor destroy her child and it is all perfectly legal.

Inside the supposed sanctity of the mother’s womb the baby is afforded no protection – outside the womb the baby now is regarded as a person worthy of protection.

Pandering

Are Canadian political leaders pandering to the women’s vote? Is that why they at the very least refuse to take a stand, and at the very worst refuse to allow their party members to vote according to their consciences? Most women I know abhor the act of abortion.

Most people want to vote for leaders who have the courage of their convictions and not people who pander to pollsters and lobby groups.

Justin Trudeau, current leader, of the Liberal Party of Canada, goes a step further than Stephen Harper; Trudeau refuses to allow anyone to run for parliament representing the party he leads, if they are in favour of allowing all unborn babies in Canada to be protected from needless abortions. He speaks of Harper not allowing his members to vote their consciences and yet many good Christian people have left the Liberal party due to his godless views on abortion.

Politicians simply out for themselves?

When Trudeau spoke at the University of Victoria he mentioned that his brother Sacha does not vote as he has no faith in any politicians doing any good for Canada, Sacha believes politicians are all in it for themselves. If Justin Trudeau’s brother is unconvinced that he is worth voting for it will be hard for Trudeau to convince Canadians that he has the makings to be the leader of our country. Becoming Prime Minister of Canada is a privilege bestowed by the people of Canada and not an inherited right.

“You know, at some point you are killing life in the foetus in self-defence – of what? Of the mother’s health or her happiness or of her social rights or her privilege as a human being? I think she should have to answer for it and explain. Now, whether it should be to three doctors or one doctor or to a priest or a bishop or to her mother-in-law is a question you might want to argue … You do have a right over your own body – it is your body. But the foetus is not your body; it’s someone else’s body. And if you kill it, you’ll have to explain.”

The Rt. Hon. Pierre E. Trudeau, PC, QC, MP
Prime Minister of Canada
The Montreal Star, Thursday, May 25, 1972

The above quotation makes it obvious that Pierre Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada clearly understood that the baby had its own body and its own inherent right to life.

NDP Pro-Abortion – Anti-Life

Thomas Mulcair, current leader of the New Democratic Party, has spoken similarly to the junior Trudeau, also stating that anyone who is against abortion is not welcome to run for his party. I wonder if any of these “leaders” ever considered what the world would be like if their mothers had access to abortion and made the decision to force their tiny little bodies to exit their own mothers’ wombs in bits and pieces.

“Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born.” Ronald Reagan

All Life is Sacred

Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party, says she believes all life is sacred, but has no plans to make any changes to the non-existing laws in Canada regarding protecting the most “sacred of lives”, tiny human unborn babies.

All life is sacred, but apparently not enough for Elizabeth May to give a fig about protecting it. Words without actions are meaningless affectations and posturing.

“Life is sacred, that is to say, it is the supreme value, to which all other values are subordinate.” Albert Einstein

Do Your Research

Have any of these four party leaders ever researched the act of abortion? Have they spoken to the women who have been scarred, mentally, physically and psychologically by abortion? Have they ever witnessed an abortion? Has their information been handed to them by research assistants, simply stating numbers pro and against? Have they taken the time to learn about hot button topics, have they tried to understand them from all angles? Do they only care about how topics are polling?

All lives matter.

It matters that we have politicians representing us, protecting us that are fully knowledgeable on issues of life in all its forms.

We live in dangerous times. We live in opulent times. We live in apathetic times. We live in sound-bite times. We live in opportunistic times. We live in changing times.

Choose Life – Everyone Wins

Most Canadians are sadly uneducated on abortion. They are fed lies by abortionists that tiny human babies are “tissue”, that it is a “woman’s right to choose”, yet they fail to consider the rights of the father, or the rights of the child being aborted. Or the rights of the grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles of the child who will forever be missing from their families, a loss that most people fail to consider; all lives matter.

Is Democracy Dead in Canada?

Politicians must be allowed to vote their conscience. Otherwise we the people who elected them on our behalf have no voice. Is Democracy dead in Canada? Is the new normal that the only people, who can speak on such major issues as the protection of life in all of its forms, are one elected leader per political party? Freedom to vote must mean we have the freedom to vote our consciences.

It is discouraging that local politicians run in Federal elections promising to represent the grass roots back home, only to find that they are only allowed to represent the views of one leader, and that leader is moving Canada away from its Christian roots and values towards totalitarianism which is a government that permits no individual freedoms. If politicians on the Federal level must toe the party line on all issues where is the rule of democracy?

Canada’s Conscience

Canada has always been known as a country that had a conscience a country where people at all stages of life mattered. Canada is a land where integrity and common values of respect and fairness matter and were previously witnessed even in the halls of Canada’s Parliament. In that spirit I would like to make a suggestion.

Know of What You Speak

Before politicians are ordered by their leaders to support the act of abortion on demand the party leaders should at least do their members the courtesy of attending one abortion to witness what happens during the procedure. Perhaps they could even hold the hand of the mother whose child is being sucked out of her womb and witness the pain she experiences as it is happening, and perhaps sit beside her afterwards to offer words of comfort. As the nurse removes the glass jar filled with the baby body parts the party leader could help to distract the mothers’ attention. There are some images to awful to witness.

The Cold Reality

Afterwards the mother is now in a cold sterile room she is handed a maxi-pad and two Tylenols and told to go home and try to sleep through the unbearable cramping she will have to endure for several days while the rest of the baby’s body parts and placenta dislodge from her womb, if she is weeping the staff member attending will dispense two tissues, the mother will gather her belongings and walk out of the clinic/hospital.

Walking in she was a woman carrying the life of another person inside her womb, walking out she is bleeding, empty and hurting. The phrase going through her mind is not, “My body my choice” it is “What have I done?” and she will experience mourning and deep feelings of grief and loss for that child for the rest of her life.

Abortion affects everyone, the mother, the child, the family of the child, the society that the child belonged to. Each time a child is aborted and we as a society make the decision to do nothing but recite meaningless slogans, we are responsible. Each child deserves a chance to be born and to live. All lives matter.

Message for Stephen Harper et al

“I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child – a direct killing of the innocent child. If we accept this how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

It is hypocritical to say that some forms of murder are worse than other forms of murder. All lives matter. All murder is wrong. (Thou Shalt Not Kill.) We all know it in our bones; murder is a terrible blight on society. It is the premature taking of another’s’ life. It is wrong on every level; a terrible evil. Yet read Mother Teresa’s words, if we sit back and allow abortion – the killing of an innocent child – how can we tell others not to kill one another?

Perhaps before re-introducing legislation to punish certain types of murderers, the government should create legislation to help educate all Canadians to have a healthy respect for life, all life.

Life that begins at the moment of conception and ends at the moment of natural death.

Political Leaders need to protect ALL the people they serve whether they are able to vote or not. All lives matter.
